ITM Nagpur Students Adopted Additional Four Villages to Provide Technical
Assistance
Nagpur March 2016: ITM College of Engineering, Nagpur organized an
inter-college technical festival Technovision 2016, a technical event for the
engineering degree students to present projects. The event witnessed 250 students from different colleges of RTM Nagpur
University participating in various competitions like Project competition,
Poster competition, Technical Paper presentation for Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecom Engineering, Civil Engineering.
There were participation from JNTU Hyderabad also.
ITM TechnoVision 2016 was
inaugurated in a glittering function in which Dr. D.K. Aggarwal, Director,
BCUD, RTM Nagpur University was the Chief Guest and Dr. D. M. Chaudhary, Dean,
Faculty of Technology, RMT Nagpur University was the Guest of Honor. Speaking
on the occasion, Dr. Aggarwal appreciated the efforts of ITM College of
Engineering, Nagpur in Project Based Learning. In his speech Dr. D.M. Chaudhari
congratulated the students for participating in the projects & competition.
He also said that students are the priority of the RTM Nagpur University and he
enjoys to interact with them. Principal Dr. Hemant Hajare congratulated the
students for taking part in ITM Technovision 2016 in large number and wished
them best of luck and He also told the participants to keep in mind their social responsibility at
all time. Dr. Arvind Bodhe, Convenor of
ITM TechnoVision 2016 explained the vision behind organizing such event at
University level.
The event also manifest a new
remark as after the overwhelming response from the students last year, ITM
College of Engineering, has gone an extra mile to adopt four more villages in
Nagpur district. The institute has decided to adopt villages located around the
Kamptee campus for five years to provide technical assistance, which will help
for development of villages.
The students will implement
several projects with an eye to upgrade the life of under privileged people of
the village. The students will put to practice the knowledge and skills
acquired from several projects they have done under the guidance of expert
faculties. Students and faculty will conduct various activities and projects
like water testing, sewerage system, sewage treatment plant, solar energy,
solid waste management, reducing indoor air pollution etc. The projects will be
supervised by experts in the field. The four additional villages adopted apart
from Ghorpad are Ajani, Shirpur, Gadha and Pawangaon. Sarpanch of village Ajani
Ms. Malatai Ingole was present for TechnoVision 2016. She was felicitated by
the Guests.
At ITM, projects are allocated to
students from second year unlike the normal practice of submitting a project on
4th year. Last year, students of ITM have done brilliant work for
water treatment plant design and operation, solar energy project, increase of
coefficient of performance of refrigerator/AC on the campus. These projects
will be now extended to the adopted villages.
While commenting on the whole
initiative, Dr. Milind Kulkarni, Group Director ITM Groups of Institution, Engineering
said, “It was the vision of our Chairman Dr. P. V. Ramana to integrate Project
based learning in Engineering Education. He supported many projects in the
campus under this scheme. He now wants to extend these projects to surrounding
villages so that they get much needed technical support. We have already
adopted the village Ghorpad.
